$730M Chinese-built highway opens in Jamaica

After three years of construction, a Chinese-built toll road has opened on the island country of Jamaica. The project marks the biggest Chinese investment in the Caribbean to date and officials said there's more to come. CCTV America's Roee Ruttenberg reports from the Kingston, Jamaica.

6. I have no problem with highway, Jah know it's a blessing but I think Jamaica had to give up too much to get it. Some of the best land on the island plus control of the highway for 50 years. I'm sure a more shrewd and transparent government would've gotten a better deal for their people.
7. build highways that 99% of the people will not use, because they are poor and dont have cars, etc. now all those poor people is in debt for something that is of no help to them cause they still trying to find a place to live (land), clothes, etc. imf trap for continued control over a nation.

9. I smell a sellout. 50 years and access to build along the highway??? You can believe the Jamaicans will be further thoroughly exploited. Now their travel will be longer because they can't afford the toll charge. My god why are Jamaicans selling out their own.

20. and also when they went to Africa and develop certain part as well they did not hire a lot of Africans in their business,building of the project , they carried over most of there people to work, surprisingly they hire 1000 Jamaican to help in the infrastructure of the bridge, so let's see if it's beneficial to Jamaica,sooner or later we're going to hear that the Chinese own Jamaica, and when they open their business, will any jamaican be working in them,Jamaican government needs to stop selling all the country bits and pieces to different Islands Trinidad and Tobago now China , does Jamaica own anything off Jamaica, they need to sit down and analyze it back to the drawing board and borrow money build up the country themselve and stop depending on other countries, Jamaica can build and improve their own country they have the knowledge and the technology and the education to do so ,hire people from the outside to assist in building but don't give the full project to them,it and selling off the island,soon or later the best real estate are going to be theirs, and the Jamaican people will not Afford to buy anything no land,or nothing for themselves and to leave anything to their children , jamaica is more Advance more than other Islands,and they are improving they own yes the island need help but knot at the expense of selling off the island and the island loses culture, really the people really need to know what's going on
