  1. If employers are not willing to reimburse your college degree if you pass with good grades and graduate on time, then your degree which you seek is not necessary.
  2. "Me and my husband both paid our way through college."
College is much more expensive than it was when you were college age, and there was better economic opportunity. I'm not saying it can't be done anymore, but I'll argue on average it's much harder.
  3. The way I phrase it is I am sending her to college. This is something I want to do to help her get started in life. My daughter will go to community college her first two years. She will pay half, and I will pay half. When she transfers, I have that money saved
  4. The best way to budget for college is to make all A's in high school, get scholarships, declare a good major and stick to it all the way through, or do not go to college at all.
  5. 2:35 - 2:40 thats actually illegal and can land you behind bars
  6. If I have a child I will save money for their tuition but tell them they will have to pay for it on their own so they better get amazing grades, participate in extracurricular activities, and get a part time job over the summer. Then, I will chip in if I need to (only if they did everything they could) or just keep the money for retirement. However, I won't pay for them to attend school out of state or live away from home unless that school isn't a good school. I commuted to save money so he/she could too.
  7. The problem with not helping your kids go to college as a wealthy individual is the government expects you to pay and won't help the kids based on your assets as the parent. So they can't even get aid thanks to your hoards of wealth you won't help them with. So you are really screwing them up if you don't help them while at the same time prevent government grants!
  8. Parents! Please read this. I am 20 years old, and I was able to pay for my entire college education and graduate in 1 year completely on my own. Hopefully my experience will be insightful and help you with funding your own child's education.

The main reason I was able to pay for my own education was because it only cost me $15,000, TOTAL. The reason for this was that I tested out of virtually every class (75/120 credits), meaning I only had to pay for a relatively small amount of tuition. While I was in school I had a full time job, and almost all of my money went towards that $15,000 i tuition that I had to pay for. My parents graciously allowed me to live at home rent free during this time. I had enough money to pay for my own phone, insurance, computer, gas, car, and college education while only making between $9 and $11.50 an hour. I was also working full time and volunteering between 10-15 hours a week at my church. Expect some effort out of your child during this season - it's not impossible.

Look up different Credit by Examination programs such as CLEP, DSST, ECE, and obviously AP. There's no reason college should cost you or your child more than $20,000 TOTAL, even if they do not have access to grants or scholarships. Credit by examination basically means you can study for and test out of college classes by taking tests that cost $80 and are worth 3 credits (compare that to around $350 per credit at most schools). Instead of paying for outrageously expensive college credits, you can get the EXACT SAME education without going into debt.

Do some good research on Credit by Examination and pick a school that is generous with the credits they accept. Liberty University is a fully accredited Christian school that will accept every single credit your child can test out of. They even offer some of their own tests, so if your child is willing to study, they can test out of classes rather than attending.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions on this. I'd be more than happy to offer suggestions and point you to good schools and study resources. The way I see it, the less Christians spend on their college educations, the more they will have to reinvest in the Kingdom of God.
  9. I think the kid is doing great.  Yeah he messed up a little but who doesn't?  You live and learn.  Make sure you talk to him about it.  But definitely realize that students cannot afford college on their own anymore.  I know the lady mentioned her and her husband paid for it themselves, well that's nearly impossible nowadays.  I think a lot of parents don't realize this.
  10. Make him pay for his books. Just so he doesnt get in the habit of everything he makes he spends. But otherwise of he is doing what he os suppose to do. Just write the checks.
  11. The same thing will happen next summer
  12. what happen to 100% and 50%  full scholarship for students?are ther less scholarship than 20 years ago?
