Buying Options with Contingent Orders | ThinkOrSwim Training

http://stockoptionassassin.com This video shows how to buy an option based on the price of the underlying stock or ETF in the Think or Swim platform. Contingent orders are great for automating a trade entry without having to stare at the computer all day. http://stockoptionassassin.com

  1. thanks for putting this up. I spent 20 minutes looking around on the platform to try figure that out
  2. But you can only place the contingent order to sell the contracts at market px, which is the last traded price.
What if you want TD to sell at the Mark px/current market px? Or am I mistaken?
  3. Thanks for this video. Can we put a stop at the same time? or how do you put it.
  4. very useful video - thanks for posting!
  5. I just realised that TOS have taken it out with the recent updates... do you still use contingent orders to enter on option trades?
  6. Thanks for the video.  I was trying to figure that out.
  7. At 2:20, where you type in VLO in the contingent order window, and you choose 'MARK' under the method tab, is there a way to bring up the value of a particular option and use that as a trigger, instead of the stock symbol?
  8. Some really good stuff, cheers mate!
  9. Sure. It's pretty much the same as the video but you're buying shares instead of an option. So first, setup a market order to buy the number of shares you want. 2nd Click on the little cog wheel on the right to set the conditions. If you want to buy the stock as it pulls back to a level you would use the At or Below setting. If you wanted to buy the stock as it was breaking out, you would use the At or Above setting. Hope that helps.
  10. Can you explain how to make a contingency order on common stock?
  11. Your welcome. Let me know if you have any questions about any of the videos or strategies. Eric
