This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Mallence Bart-Williams introduced her second home Sierra Leone and its talented people, who are part of her project FOLORUNSHO. Find out more via http://www.tedxberlin.de Mallence Bart-Williams was born in Cologne, Germany. She is a Sierra Leonean writer and filmmaker and a German fashion designer. She pursued her studies in economics and finance in Paris, Singapore, and Great Britain. Today she lives across the globe, produces an all-natural cosmetics line in Hong Kong, and is the founder and creative director of the Freetown-based creative collective FOLORUNSHO, a ‘SHARITY’ that she initiated with street kids in Sierra Leone. Due to her German-Sierra Leonean roots she perceives herself as a bridge connecting two vastly different worlds. Her diverse background enables her to see creative solutions to common problems. Within their three years of operation, her collective has taken homeless children off the streets and into school, developed a sneaker and clothing collection, published a book and documentary of their story, and has held fine art exhibitions. Through her work with FOLORUNSHO she connects cultural contrast, enabling people to share ideas, take action, and get results. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Comments

  1. The elegance , the grace , the confidence. She needs to speak sense into those incompetent leaders at the African Union Conference
  2. Wow 😍😍 she is amazing plus she looks like Tracie Ross from Blackish
  3. you gotta go back and make Africa great again
  4. Shieeeeeet if we all come from Africa doesn't that mean it's everyone's land?
  5. Meanwhile Africa dies of malaria and ebola while Europe has a period of stability and wealth unprecedented in the history of mankind. Even the Easter half, the one that had no colonialist intentions but were former slaves of european and asian empires do so much better compared to Africa. Why is that? Why aren't we here in the east as shit as Africa? I can tell you why? We don't complain about having been colonized a few centuries ago, we get shit done. We work our asses off, we respect our communities and love our country, we don't blame others for what we failed, we don't blame the west for whatever evil they did to us. We seek to make our voice heard through unity and culture. Africa? Africa without our help would be just like it was before the West came and civilized them, a backward tribal society with no hope for the future.
  6. NGO's stop sending money to Africa they don't need it.
Your university must be a crap. There are a big abundance of diamonds, it's price is a lobby construct. Currency is not backed by gold for a very long time.
Being resource rich means nothing. Most resource rich countries in the world are by far not the richest i.e. Russia, Argentina, Venezuela.
    >>The west depend on Africa's resources
Well without the west's demand those resources would be worth nothing.
    >>Come with honor
That precious good that Africa is full of when they kill each other.
  7. 5billion africa bux = 1 dollar because gold is worthless and civilized countries only use it as the standard because it suits ZOG and the other elites
if african countries decided they wanted a bigger share of the wealth for gold then the imaginary ````gold standard'''' would be dropped like a hot potato
  8. Yes yes YESSSSSSSS!!!!
  9. Her attitude is everything! 🤣🤣🤣 I love her boldness. They are shook... YEAS, AFRICAN QUEEN!
  10. They exploited our country and developed theirs the sadest thing is when they come to Africa they said that they were tourist or expatriate and when we travel to Europe they call us illegal migrants what's a humiliation.
  11. Europeans are evil. Africans know that Europeans are evil. Africans are finally rejecting Europeans
  12. We'll rise... Africa lives forever...We are actualizing our Afraness and awakening
  13. Well said & so articulate and as you were reporting out with boldness and confident.... as it resonated deeply as I listen to you speak. Thank you very much for sharing @Mallence Bart-Williams
  14. Tell em lady!! I've always been taught how horrible it is in Africa and how poor it is in America. This has opened my eyes to see how insecure America is because we should be working with Africa not belittling it and all it's glory and worth!
  15. Wow
  16. Remember the movie Diamond are Forever, well She is the real Diamond Expert.... You go, Girl LOL
  17. Always find myself coming back to this Ted Talks! Mallence is admirable.
  18. You can just see how over the western world she is ....I feel you sis
  19. I dont see the problem. If Africa was a person, they should not accept a low price. They should just follow Saudi Arabia, that's a good person right? He has a great personality and great respect for women and their native countrymen.
  20. Is this video talking talking about stolen wealth??
