July 25, 2011 Jim Hanna, Director of Environmental Affairs, Starbucks Jill Sigal, VP of U.S. Government Policy, Conservation International Brennan Van Dyke, Senior Advisor to the CEO, The Global Environment Facility Partners: Starbucks, Conservation International, The Global Environment Facility Starbucks is using its scale to drive systematic change in business practices around the world and make sustainable coffee production the industry standard. Starbucks has set ambitious goals to improve practices where they have the most impact. For example, by 2015, 100% of their coffee with be ethically sourced. In partnership with Conservation International, Starbucks has developed a comprehensive set of guidelines for responsibly grown coffee called Coffee And Farmer Equity (C.A.F.E.) Practices. Starbucks works directly with farmers to develop responsible growing methods and improve coffee quality, as well as invests in loan programs for coffee-growing communities to ensure a sustainable supply of quality coffee.

This is a lie, Starbux does not invest in farmers directly bu has implemented a a deal with E-com trading for continuous exploitation of the small farmers, we have tried to supply directly and they require a "Cafe Practices" certification and that we give our coffee over to E Com here in Mexico, no direct trade practice, just another intermediary
