  1. For Retirement accts look for IRA or Roth IRA that has "NO-LOAD" FEES (No management fees). Also look for transfer fees. Many stories of people who have loss money because of these Management fees. Please do research. Once you put your money in, it could be difficult or expensive to move.
Also ask if your adviser complies with Fiduciary Rules (Acting on the best Interest of the Client). A strong emphasis on this as the Current Government wants to diminish Fiduciary Rules but many institutions are compliant already.
  2. All you "investment Gurus" out there, "The Idiot's guide" and "For Dummies" books make absolutely wonderful books on mutual fund investing and personal finance, in general. My investment goal when I started investing 15 years ago, at about 200  a month was 100k by the time I retire. That's 4 years away and I already have the 100k. So learn from people who are smart about investing like Dave and forget these internet idiots and people who just want to sell you something.
  3. The index funds have out performed the MF managers 96% of the time over the last 10 years.
  4. You guys should check out this EXTRAORDINARY website called FIREPA.COM . You can make money online and start working from home today as I am! I am making over $3,000+ per month at FIREPA.COM ! Visit Firepa.com and check it out! The jelly conducts the kick. The needy development theorizes the learning. The ceaseless current arranges the cloth.
  5. does Roth IRA really work? what if your company loses money? that means you lose too, especially at 12% which is a BIG risk. I have a 401K at 3%. If Roth IRA is the best way to make money, then why don't more people invest in IRA? there aren't enough millionaires at age 60. If any, I suspect there are very few.
  6. I 100% agree with you. Take control of your finaces and use a self directed IRA - depending on how you structure the self directed IRA you can even write a check to invest in collectibles, gold and even real estate (my shamless plug) :P
  7. The problem with this because the man didn't evaulate the company as a whole, and where it was going, not all stocks are bad, you have to know what the good players and bad companies! Stocks aren't bad at all, this man didn't have education about stocks! I reccommend stocks and commodoties! i don't recommend 401k's, mutual funds nor roth ira because they are rippoffs!
  8. Dave Ramsey has been saying the same thing - buy mutual funds - for at least 10 years. And we all know that he has been wrong for 10 years. Yes, he has the sort of personality that makes you want to believe him (sort of like Bill Clinton), yet he often says things that aren't true. He attacks investments in hard assets (like gold) and pisses all over plain annuity contracts. Hard assets have been the best "risk" investment over the last 10 years, and no-risk annuities have outperformed stocks.
  9. Silver & Indexed Universal Life policies. Never 401ks. Don't be fooled by the puppets Ramsey & Orman. SS/pensions & 401ks were laid out by our friendly gvmnt. We already know what has happened to SS & pensions & if one thinks that the crash of the last few years is over, or won't happen again, go get a lobotomy.Term pols r the worst ESP if you're young. If 1 comes down w/a medical issue w/i term, they prob won't be able 2 renew & if they can, they prob won't be able 2 afford gargantuan rates.
