  1. Right, gold has no real value ... that's why people die and have died, for all history to obtain it any way they can ... it may be a perceived value, but it is as real as the sun, moon and stars ... let's try this, I walk along, drop a few ounces of gold and do not notice it, you are following behind, see it and do what? walk on by, pick it up? answer that and then review your thoughts on the value of gold
  2. Stefan, I do not have enough time to see all the video, but here is my question: You support a Free Banking System? and What do you think about the proposal of Professor Jesús Huerta de Soto of complete the Robert Peel's Act? I mean, Huerta de Soto is an anarchist but he is agree with use the force of the State to impose a full-reserve banking, even if the banker and the customer decided voluntary a fractional reserve system.
  3. Yes of course, And that is totally correct, I just don't like calling gold "Real Money" as compared to dollars. One is more stable, One is more consistent, And another is not, And subject to the whims of who ever is in power. But it still is just an item we assign a value to, Though, It is arguable that gold has practical applications.
  4. true... value oly exists as we apply value to it, be it fiat, barterables, or anything else really... the only real difference, is that gold is lmited, and fiat literally grows on trees... supply and demand is our friend... the rarer gold is, the more valuable it is, the thinner its spread... the more abundant fiat is, the less valueable it is, the more it piles up(and we all know who's pockets gets the biggest piles)...
  5. Gold doesn't have real value either, It is just a thing we apply to it.
  6. Stefan, have you ever read L. Randall Wray's work on fiat monetary systems? His "Understanding Modern Money" is a very interesting read. Try, also, William Mitchell's "Full Employment Abandoned: Shifting Sands and Policy Failures". I would love to hear your thoughts on the Modern Monetary Theory school of thought.

  13. I Don't Owe the Government a God Damn Thing!
  14. "THEY" might just instigate a civil disaster and pick up the pretend pieces later. Slate clean, once the blood is wiped off and the stench of burning flesh dissipates.
  15. @sephethus the new Swiss Federal Constitution of 1848 specified that the Federal Government would be the only entity allowed to make money in Switzerland. This was followed two years later by the first Federal Coinage Act, passed by the Federal Assembly on 7 May 1850, which introduced the franc as the monetary unit of Switzerland. SOURCE: WIKIPEDIA
  16. @bezant1971 the devaluation wasn't that big. In 1849, they agreed to a standard of 1 franc = 4.5 grams of silver or 0.290322 grams of gold. Mainly due to the Great Depression, since 1945, the swiss franc is now evaluated to 0.203125 grams of gold.
  17. @Mrcastleskeep You are right. The problem, as you have stated, is that most people don't realize it. This lack of knowledge creates a challenge for them to change their fundamental philosophy or outlook...and a challenge for us to educate them.
  18. @robj2e senheizer is best quality out there.
  19. how about the swiss franc?
  20. I cant be owned ; what about you!
