3. dude I hear you I have already paid my bill with Pacific Power which was 200 and something in order to get my power turned back on but I still have a debt from some other third-party company that is attacking me and they say it's 900 dollars and something so they are also acquiring interest rates somehow on the debt I also have a debt with US Cellular that I paid off years ago but because I did it in a different store they are not recognizing that it's been paid I got a lot of debt but I want to make sure it's clear that I have paid the bills that I have paid

12. I got voicemail in Massachusetts and I live in Mississippi saying that, she was a debt collector and wanted me to collect give money but the problem is I don't have any debt and i'm in middle school and don't own a house wtf

14. I worked at a collection law firm for 3 years during college. We collected on mostly medical and credit card debt, and a few other things. We had around 15 attorneys employed, with around 100 other employees, mostly college students. We operated in something like 8 states (including Arkansas). I can attest to the fact that often, cases don't get reviewed by an attorney before suit is filed, but it is always reviewed by several employees in depth. Also, we got most of our money from default judgments (people not showing up to court). However, we never attempted to collect on debts past the statute, and always worked with debtors on payment plans and settlements. Basically, we would settle for 80% of the debt, and lower interest rates for payment plans and such. That's not to say it's not a skeevy industry, but it did help put me through college. Also they employ a ton of people, and were all pretty nice in general. Also, it's not like they just send over an excel sheet and that's it. They send a spreadsheet, and we enter it into the system, but before we file suit we require full documentation from the client. This includes any and all bills, payment records, credit card contracts, and any other relevant supporting documents. You can't just file suit and get judgement without these things, and when our clients told us to try we flat out refused.
