Educate the heart: Pasha Bakhtiar at TEDxEcoleHoteliereLausanne

In the context of recent economic events, Pasha asks "Where is this mindset and general pattern of bad corporate behavior coming from?" and suggests how we can we bring about change. After more than 12 years in the "traditional" business space -- most recently Managing Director of Lombard Odier & Cie's office in the UAE -- Pasha Bakhtiar left the world of banking in September 2010 to found Willow Impact Investors: an investment firm providing growth equity to SMEs. Centered on the principle of a "double bottom line" where emphasis is placed both on financial returns and the social impact generated by investments, Willow is committed to demonstrating that a new, more innovative, inclusive and creative form of capitalism is needed.  Honoured as a Young Global Leader in 2012 by the World Economic Forum, Pasha holds a Private Pilots License and enjoys ski touring and long distance triathlons. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Comments

  1. Thank you for this great talk and for spreading values like those. Thank you.
  2. Inspiring!
  3. Refreshing and delivered in a clear and concise manner (for once). I liked the "embracing core values is not only personally rewarding, it’s also profitable" part as we tend, too often, to separate the two
  4. Thank you, we need to hear this type of message again and again until it starts to sink in. Mindfulness is a key element in bringing about changes in people's hearts and minds. "Wake up- there is the potential for the end of dis-ease,suffering,blindness- dukkha" as the Lord Buddha taught.
