12. right now 1usd equals 31.48 thai baht seems the dollar is going up since greece left the euro zone the baht is at 4 months of weak currency, to make things worse food and everything else is going up everywhere, i hear pm yingluck is going to freeze prices for a few months
13. there was a wave in the asian region of adopting the floating FX regime at the time, which was carried out carelessly. with lack of knowledge and experience, they didn't fully understand the consequences of letting foreign capital flow in and out of their countries freely and the FX rates to float. speculators acted on this weak link and succeeded. this was indeed a big lesson for the national governments on what would happen if they sit on taxpayers' money and don't work for their people.
