April Fool's joke?...not impossible in 4 years, but definitely improbable. In the 1960's-70's Jamaica was on the same development track as Malaysia, which now looks like this Kingston 2020 video, Jamaica could have already achieved this level of development years ago, if it were not for the political corruption that stole our dream, now we are the beggar nation of the world, under the boot of the IMF and destined to be a plantation economy owned by foreigners for generations into the future.
Where will all the native Jamaicans be in all this new Jamaican metropolis?

Jamaica's image will remain one of Ghettos, slum and shanty for several decades to come. Jamaica isn't ready for development. You can't achieve this scale of growth under a mix of official corruption, nepotism, chronism, police brutality, badmanism and bandooluism. Only civilize societies can achieve growth.

Gimme a break, I could bet my college funds and life savings that none of this is gonna happen; seriously, all this in such a short five year time span. sigh
But with such a high skyline you don't see the mountains. And with a modernized town and lack of free education the undereducated lower classes will not be able to afford to survive. The jobs that hopefully will be provided to the population for construction may not be constant if this is only a 5 year plan. And where is the culture. The colours the atmosphere.
only way china would invest in us like this unless the island is there's or they're gonna use our island as an strategic military point for USA, Canada and probably the UK too. The only reason another country would invest so much are for those sole purposes especially since black man easily manipulated. Well i suppose since America is our neighbor and they are not giving large "GOOD" advice and cleaning our system of corrupt politics, if the Chinese want to do it and make Jamaicans talk ying yang chung be my guess once me, my neighbor or my descendants wont be a slave be my guess.

Interesting that a group of Chinese investors have a plan for Jamaica that does not reflect the peoples' input. The question is " What are our vision(s) for a country that is need of development?" How are we positioning ourselves to safeguard the aspects of our country that we hold dear?

Nothing is wrong with improving our country but what we just saw is unsettling, I don't want my country to lose its Caribbean charm and those so called upgrades will do just that, even more unsettling is the fact that this move will cost us more than just monetary losses. I say HELL NO wtf we need bullet trains from down town to hwt fa???

We are not a country of skyscrapers, we get by on our natural environmental beauty, what kinda concrete jungle, New York looking thing the place gonna turn inna. Unnuh can keep it. This large scale production would come at a cost for the country and the people, the amount of environmental hazards, eg smog, unnuh cyah tek Riverton smoke, unnuh cyah got tek di smog either. As most o you said, it's like selling the country. Why have the country looking like everywhere else, thats why people come here because it looks different. And within the space of 5 years ha, thats the real joke
