8. 33:47 I didn't really understand what he meant until I had to overcome my fears of putting on a trade. Losing made me work harder, but it wasn't the underlying issue because I couldn't take advantage of what I had learned due to fear. Listen to what Greg Riba says: just don't lose money; losing money changes everything. It's very deep and I didn't understand until recently.

14. reading the comments here indicates that 90% have no clue of market structure and the role of its participants. Floor traders traded their own cash to make a market & provide liquidity. Computerization improved the efficiencies but now we see daily an explosion of quotes & price changes without an explosion of real trading. Under Reg NMS all those direct feed connections the HFT boys have are supposed to be illegal. It's modern day front running. Having that advantage, is the equivalent of having next week’s WSJ or FT today, retail customers get fucked

Ultimately this movie was about survival of the fittest, the irony is that these alpha male pit traders were at the top of their game for 10 - 20 years, they made it seem that their business demanded a sink or swim attitude and the ones strong enough to survive would rise to the top, that was until the introduction of the computer traders then suddenly the old school traders became the very thing they were criticizing at the beginning of the film
