They sell you gold and silver and then buy land to produce things that the people need, then sell the stuff you need (food, fire wood etc) after the poop hits the fan for your gold and silver that's the plan. Use whatever land you can to start growing food that you will need, don't wait until it hits the fan, growing food isn't as easy as it sounds it will take trial and error, so start as soon as possible.
