What i don't like is the unlimited potential downside, than again there are ways to solve that. that being said if you use the implied volatility to your advantage and the implied odds of being in the money or out of the money, depending on the stock you can adjust it so your percentage of profitability is around 65%. 65% is a pretty standard target people seem to aim for.

5. The biggest point is if your stock goes down, you're selling calls to lower your cost basis. If you are doing this for income, and you have your stock go down, then you'll have to adjust your strike price or time horizon. Basically you are renting out your stock. If your stock is called away below the original purchase price, you can then just buy it again and continue the process until you get back to your original purchase price, or turn around and sell cash secured puts until you make up the for the loss. Value stocks in general have less volatility, but lower premiums. Growth stocks have greater volatility but better premiums. Its a matter of risk tolerance!
