Soundcloud : https://soundcloud.com/strange-currencies-636077644/i-dont-dance-1 ‘The incredibly creative and original STRANGE CURRENCIES will also be taking to the stage; prepare for PP Johnson’s resounding vocals and Claudine West’s extraordinary musical skills on the guitar, and mandolin, and basically any instrument! The dynamic of the two being ex-Rock band members but making beautiful Folk music together is delicious, strange, but intriguing. In a few words, it’s like Foo Fighters gone Peter Gabriel!’ Nusic 2017 STRANGE CURRENCIES Put two ex-rock band members together. One an insanely talented multi-instrumentalist and the other a stunningly powerful vocalist. Add over 40 years combined experience of performing and making music. Bring to the boil and what comes out is something strange. Claudine West provides the music (be it Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Bass, Keyboards or Drums). As well as providing backing vocals and lyrics. PP Johnson brings his words, production knowledge and masterful voice to a combined sound that can only be described as Strange Currencies. Formed in April 2016, Nottingham duo Strange Currencies began writing and recording their eponymous debut EP and their 2017 debut album ‘Making Monsters.’ Featuring the powerful raw vocals of PP Johnson (No Empire, Subway Circus) and multi-instrumentalist Claudine West (The Idolins, Subway Circus) They began performing at local open mic nights to promote their music and have thus far worked with local promoters such as ‘Bad Time For Bonzo’ and ‘I’m Not From London.’ They describe their eureka moment as an eclectic style they call ROCKUSTIC: fusing such styles as Rock, Country and Folk (to name but a few). Influenced by The Who, The Doors, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Bobby Womack, Foo Fighters, Tori Amos, Black Sabbath, Jose Gonzalez and Suzanne Vega and R.E.M. (with the band name taken from the R.E.M. song). Strange Currencies EP Track Listing I Don’t Dance A catchy acoustic funky track about today’s drinking culture. Intoxication being the only way to willingly get on the dance floor (for people of a certain age). Featuring guest harmonica by Robert ‘Too Tall’ Batchelor, whom the pair met on a live mic night at The Doghouse in Carlton, Nottingham.Live Dates https://strangecu.wordpress.com/gigs/ Official Website https://strangecu.wordpress.com/bio/ Reverbnation https://www.reverbnation.com/strangecurrencies Soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/strange-currencies-636077644 Facebook https://www.facebook.com/strangecu/ Twitter @strangecu https://twitter.com/strangecu
