  1. If something is discontinued and rare, like the POPersia, doesn't that make it more valuable? I get that it's not a desirable set, but I know that with other investments like coins and stamps, the rareness is a huge factor in it's value. Is it just due to the low probability of future collectors wanting to buy them from you?
  2. should i buy ewok village or sandcrawler? which of them will rise the most in value after retiring? thanks
  3. Dont forget about Chima... now grow up lego collectors dont give much interest in to Chima but do you know what these days young lego builders are playing with?... Chima has its own TV serial series for kids. ... what will be the first thing they will want to collect when they grow up? Big expensive Chima sets that they didnt own in childhood. Since nobody stores them now, they will be hard to get ... and expensive
  4. i invest in lego city sets
the best place would be on amazon for me
  5. Do you guys think it makes sense to also invest in smaller sets? Like the new Star Wars Tydirium (right now 50 dollar). Because it's pretty beautiful and quite big, so I could imagine it's pretty profitable within two to five years. I also just bought the Sandcrawler, since it's USC.
  6. good info for sure thank you!!
  7. Don't.
  8. I think the best way to start is jays storm fighter and/or the desert skiff, there both cheap at $25 and have good figures and builds.
  9. I have the hoth echo base, I got it when it came out.
  10. What about lego movie's lego? Is it worth investing? I'm planning to invest and play at the same time, does that mean i have to buy two sets for each model?
  11. I started my own eBay store selling Lego's.  I also have bought lots of Lego on eBay and resold them.  I've done good selling tons of different Lego most weren't even star wars.  The big thing is knowing what the Lego is worth and what you can sell it for before you buy.  Don't over pay, make your own judgements in my opinion.  Everyone has a different price.  You can ask whatever you want for a Lego(set) but the real question is what people are willing to pay.  I've already made all my money back on numerous lots I've bought and have a ton of free Lego from those lots.
  12. Usually the sets with a better price per piece value do better in investments. I noticed that Attack on Weathertop (terrible price) has actually gone down in value.
  13. Hello, in my opinion, the bests invest sets are the ones that:

    1. ...are quite big (at least 700/800 pieces). Buyers don't care about little boxes.

    2. ...are a big spaceship, a big house... but not places with stuff and accessories. For example, Millenium Falcon or Tour of Orthanc are great investment, but the Ewok village is absolutley NOT !!! I'm really surprised to see that in your video you have said that the set 7879 is a good investement. It's hardly displayable for a 40 years old collector. Every newbie will forget about such a set and never care about it. Ok, some would like to buy it for the collection, but not enough people to rise the price. Nothing comparable with something like jabba's barge (first set) IMHO.

    3. ...use a licence (LOTR, SW, Batman... but defenitively not City, Ninjago...)

    4. ... look great for display on a shelf and don't look like some little kids toys (that's why my point 2 is easier with a big ship, for example a SW UCS). The "Back to the future" DeLorean is ugly and I'm not sure the price will highly rise.

    5. ...include exclusives figures (like the King of the dead in Pirate Ship Ambush) and exclusive pieces (sails of this ship). To avoid people to make their own with other bricks.

You need to have the first 4 points (if you have the 5th it's better), otherwise your investment may fail. For example, see Lego Indiana Jones. Movies are great, toys are nice, but they are not big.

And I have to say that sea ships are also a really good investment because adults have an interest in good looking toys, and such ships are very displayable. IMHO the LOTR is one very good LEGO to invest in (I mean right now, because for Pirate of the C. it's already too late). I think the price may double or triple 3 or 4 years after it's sold out on the lego shop. I think it has everything you can except for a collector (including Peter Jackson's figure, for example).

Bye and keep the good job !
  14. I like you but, here goes my rant on some of your investment ideas. Its not smart to tie up 50 for 1-2 years in something that will only double upon resale. Evan a novice economist will tell you that's bad money management. That 50 should return 4 times or more the amount over that time period and that's conservative.
  15. Also buy licensed cuusoo.
  16. On Bricklink the sets are a lot cheaper than eBay. eBay and Amazon are quite expensive even for unlicensed sets. If a new series comes out that will have new waves of sets throught a year or so, then by the first wave of sets and sell them at the end of the waves.
  17. The thing is, this guy says invest in starwars, so everybody does and then that market get's over inflated!
  18. I have the tc-14!
  19. Its not that easy in the UK?!
  20. I think ninjago are going to be a lot of money to efford
