Is Forex trading gambling?

http://www.myfxbook.com/members/johnnydeez I think some people have extremely unreasonable expectations for their Forex earnings. If I can make 2 - 5% in a month I am extremely happy with that. I was listening to a podcast recently where someone was trying to turn 1000 dollars into 3000 (or even 10000 dollars) with in a short period of time. That's certainly possible, but I think that's gambling. And, that's not what this channel is about. My goal is to make a substantial return that outperforms what I could get from more traditional investments. If I achieve that, I will have succeeded.

  3. Absolutely is not gambling. Gambling have to do with luck. Ofcourse the Market is a small chaos like the weather. Is the weather gambling? You have barometer, hydro, temp, dopler etc.Same the Market is maths and statistics you must to learn to use the tools (indi's default or private) and know what you doing.Something simple (not only that) : http://prntscr.com/eh21u0
  4. Hey John,
Hedge funds can't (usually) achieve those numbers due to their size, and the size of the positions they have to take
Crazy high returns can happen though, Larry Williams in 1987 did 11,000% return in 12 months in the Robbins cup, (actually he was up 22,000 % at one point .
Currently in 2017 , Richard Hom is up 130% in the Robbins cup forex division YTD!

a straight Kelly's formula (yes gambling) or a modified Kelly's (safer than gambling) can get you great returns.
