The CBI has announced that it intends to implement a long-planned Redenomination of the Iraqi dinar by eliminating three zeros from the nominal value of banknotes.This process is meant to ease commercial transactions by reducing errors and confusion that hyper-inflated currencies often cause. Now that Iraq’s inflation rate has achieved a level of stability, the move could serve to bolster confidence in the country’s currency.The Redenomination process is set to begin in late 2010 and take two years to complete.
iraq has not done this yet because the timing is not right but they will eventually do it

monarcia if you pay attention to what is going on with Iraq you may understand better. Removed from chapter 7 sanctions from UN. They have to have a tradeable currency by UN rules To be in WTO. Largest holders of the Iraqi Dinar are countries around the world US china so on. Us probably being the largest holder. The BIS and IMF will let them burn there currency and start over you are crazy. To LOP a currency a country has to have multiple currencies or super high inflation. Scam NO! Rich fast NO
10 years have passed since the new currency was introduced. The value has not increased. The only thing that is about to change is the Iraqi government will declare the Dinar to be worthless, at which time the currency of Iraq will shift to the U.S. dollar. The exchange rate will remain constant, but exchanges will be nonexistent outside Iraq. Once the Irqai government has received enough U.S. currency it will stop all exchanges thus making Iraqi Dinar the largest scam in world history.
Anyone who falls for this scam is a fool and it really shows how full of crap Cramer is. The scammers have been saying the Dinar will "revalue" any day now for over 4 years! There are literally trillions of Dinar sitting in safes and desks all over the US, do you honestly think the central banking system will allow thousands of people to exchange all that Dinar for USD!? Such a thing would totally collapse the entire monetary system and the currency exchange market. It will NEVER happen!
Iraq desperately NEEDS private employers in-country, as the country's unemployment is very high and annual per capita GDP horribly low ($4,000-ish). If the Iraqi people want their country to be a wealthy nation again, they need to put their political and religious beliefs on the backburner to basic human rights and economic independence.
