Oman's Currency Wins Award

Oman's commemorative 45th National Day one rial banknote has won the Special Achievement Award at the Security Currency Printing Conference held in Azerbaijan. The banknote was issued by the CBO and is characterised by a number of security features. The most prominent detail is the riased tactile marks to assist the visually impaired in recognising the denominations. Afghanistan is beefing up its elite special forces units, to hold back an escalating Taliban insurgency. The unit has been badly stretched by two years rushing from crisis to crisis, which is why it's about to get a much needed boost. Officials say they hope to double the number of special forces over the next few years. Preparations for the much awaited Times of Oman Interschool Quiz Contest have begun. The preliminary rounds will be held across different international schools during the month of April. And the finals, as always, will be held at the Qurum Ampitheatre on April 29.
