PAA Africa short documentary: Investing in School Meals in Ethiopia

Purchase from Africans for Africa (PAA Africa) is an innovative programme that matches food demand of schools and other public institutions with agricultural supply from local smallholders and farmers organisations (FOs). PAA Africa has been implemented jointly by FAO and WFP since 2012, in partnership with national governments Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, Niger and Senegal. In Ethiopia, the programme is being implemented in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People Region (SNNPR) and is benefitting 2,815 smallholder famers (by strengthening productive and organizational capacity) and 9,655 school children (by providing nutritious school meals). Along with partners in Ethiopia, PAA Africa has played a key role in paving the way forward for the establishment of Home Grown School Feeding (HGSF) programmes at regional and national level.
