Saving Copper Pennies as an Investment

These are all 95% copper pennies - no post '82 copper coated zinc cents here. Right now, it is illegal to melt US cents. I believe this will change, but I never plan to melt them anyway. As the coins are now, in addition to having the metal value, they also have collector value since they are currency. It's just like the junk pre 1964 silver coins that are bought and sold based on their silver content. Copper cents are being bought and sold right now based on their copper content. Some coin dealers will pay more than face value for copper cents and some sell their copper cents on Ebay by the pound. Now is the time to save copper. One day people will be saying "I wish I had saved copper pennies when they were still in circulation". How many wish they would have saved pre '64 silver coins back when the coins were available at face value? Copper is treated today the way that silver was 50 years ago. The United States Codes under Title 18, Chapter 17, and Section 331, "prohibits the mutilation, diminution and falsification of United States coinage." However, this statute does not prohibit the mutiliation of coins if done without fraudulent intent or use. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=11&pub=5575168947&toolid=10001&campid=5337864703&customid=&icep_store=terminal99&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg - Link to my terminal99 eBay store! - Link to my terminal99 eBay store! - Link to my terminal99 eBay store!

  1. Thought it was illegal to melt pennies down? Government property? I'm confused about how you would sell them for the price of copper. Please explain.
  2. Did you test all of  the 1982 pennies, since some '82s have the zinc mix? Great video, btw.
  3. I save copper cents as well I have about 150 lbs do you seperate the wheat cents cuz if so I would buy some wheats off you if your interested in selling any plz hit me back
  4. This seems like a lot of time spent for very little, if any, return on investment.
  5. Do the wheat back pennies have a higher content of copper that a modern penny? Leny
  6. These pennies aren't even 100% copper.
  7. Copper is a great way to save for long term investments many of the the pro’s do it and so should you. http://ebay.to/1WkXvWs
  8. You have to melt them dude. If you melt them, there's nothing they can do except give you your cash. Buy a crucible for a few hundred bucks and melt away.
  9. It's illegal for US to melt coins. Trust me, our fucking government will melt those coins into copper and utilize it for copper value. Do as they tell us, not as they do. Just like Hillary, she can get away with a shitty decision that gets folks killed, though if one of us does it we'll be in jail awaiting court for murder/manslaughter conspiracy.
  10. I plan on collecting 10,000 copper pennies and then throwing them in the ocean
  11. what I'm planning on doing is all keep about $600 worth of copper pennies and after that everything else also my original $600 worth will be for my personal collection so that I have an investment purity after that every cent of copper I get I will save for the next big spike in copper prices I will sell that and save it to buy junk silver so it's basically like getting free silver.
  12. Being a buyer of copper pennies I find people's thoughts about them all over the chart so I thought I would share my thoughts.
I both coin roll hunt for the copper and I buy copper cent lots. I am saving them for my retirement in 30 + years. Current spot price means as much to me as a rusty nail.
I am expecting both massive inflation and copper becoming more scarce. Also demand keep going up. It's a passion of mine. I also am big on silver and nickel too. If anyone has any questions about copper cent collecting I would be happy to answer them.
What I am seeing is a lot of people wondering about it but not really grasping what it really is about.
  13. Want to hoard copper without buying expensive equipment?! Well, I sell copper pennies for 1.5x FV! Comment on my recent video if you are interestedb
  14. Its only 1.80 here in jackson
  15. I used to throw pennies away but last year I had a look around my house & found over £4 in pennies.
    You cashed these in yet?
  16. Do you really just want to make a cent or two profit instead of hoarding some silver? Copper barely moves in price, with silver there's more room for profit. I guess collecting copper is more like a hobby lol.
  17. Selling copper pennies for $1.75 for $1 face
  18. We cannot be fooled at all with the current rise of the Dollar. As long as our government cannot stop spending, it'll be a matter of time when this goes entirely in reverse. It's not only our ever rising debt that spell doom but now some countries will not accept our Dollar and have been both dumping the Dollar and Treasuries. Soon more nations are going to do the same. Think what's this is going to do to the Dollar. Again, it'll be matter of time when this current rise in the Dollar will suddenly go into reverse. Inflation will rapidly go sky high and commodities will go through the roof; energy, metals, grains, etc,., Fuel prices will rise rapidly through $5 to $10 or $15 a gallon or more. Gold and silver will reach and far exceed all time highs and base metals will quickly join the bandwagon by reaching and exceeding new highs. Word of warning, if you have at least 80% of your assets into stocks, I urge you to take take them ALL out and put it into metals. Predictions are that a serious global crisis will start when this happens, possibly even sooner which signs of what's happening in Europe could start it before the Dollar's collapse. Some which includes Allen Greenspan say it could start as soon as THIS YEAR. Again, if you have a very high percentage or all your assets into stocks, pull then out. When this next crisis hits, it'll make the 2007-2009 crisis look like child's play in comparison. Many stocks will not survive as many companies will fold, causing their stocks to lose ALL their value. Put it into gold, silver, platinum and even copper. Also keep in mind when the Dollar collapses, value of paper money will completely vaporize. Exchange it all into either bullion or gold, silver, platinum and copper coins. History not only shows that metals are a save haven when a crisis occurs but also shows that it will ALWAYS HAVE VALUE because it their rarity. This is not be the case with stocks when companies fold. Better take this seriously. I been following markets and commodities for three decades and along with both knowledge and research, I strongly recommend and urge those to take these precautions seriously of what's to come.
  19. How will you extract the copper from the zinc?  Are there services for that?  How much do they charge?  Who will you sell the copper to?  Do you really have an exit strategy for this investment?  If my father died with a collection like this, I am sure I would not know what to do with it.
  20. Don't count on it, you will be 92 collecting Social Security before that happens.
