1. This is an aspect of this act that many people have overlooked. They don't see a downside, they just see FATCA hunting down rich tax dodgers and so it's all good. Leaving aside the massive injustices being heaped upon anybody outside of the USA due to the USA's almost unique and frankly evil system (well, it's evil when Eritrea does it because the UN said so, the only other one)  of taxing Americans that no longer live there or never have, this is a classic case of taking our a massive gun to do a little enforcement and then shooting yourself straight through your own foot.
