El GEO está, junto con la Unidad Especial de Intervención de la Guardia Civil, integrado en la Red ATLAS, que engloba a todas las unidades especiales contraterroristas de los países que conforman la Unión Europea. Teniendo como unidades equivalentes al GSG9 (Alemania), E.K.A.M, Grecia, DSU (Bélgica), GIS (Italia) RAID (Francia) URNA (República Checa) GOE (Portugal) HRT (USA), entre otros.
