7. is it possible to write a code based around support & resistance lines rather than built in indicators? how often do you tweak your EA? do you turn it off for every now and then?
8. I have exactly the same thinking as you. I manually employed techniques that work most of the time. However, I have to sit in from of the machine to see if my indicators are giving me the right data to put the trade on. If I can code it so that my client can initiate the trade and exit the trade for me, I'd be way more profitable. I enjoy programming and for what I understood so far is that I learn MQL4, write it out in some environment, test it, and deploy the EA to my MT4.

   great points why an EA makes sense. 100% agree and that is why I got into it in march after trading manually for 6 months.
   But 3 months is in my opinion not enough time to say "it is working". I am testing on two VPS with 6 different instances of MT4 and countless pairs with my three EAs. My result is so far: Some months they are profitable and some months not, without changing anything on the EA or the inputs. What does it tell us? That the markets always change behavior, they do not always follow the same pattern. Only because your bot worked in the past three month, it doesn't mean that is gonna be profitable in the next month. That is why I am saying 3 month is not enough time to claim "that it works". I hope you get what I am trying to say.
   
   By the way: Where are you running your EAs? On your home computer or VPS?

11. I did the same thing! Coded my own EA and tested with 10+ years of historical data.
