  1. Bogle sees all these new investors coming up with all these ridiculous concepts and just says "What The Fuck???"
  2. VTI is great.
  3. I thought ETF, and index fund where the same thing
  4. People all have gambling addiction and think the stock market is any different.  You WON'T be rich trading stocks.  You just have to invest in stock and forget about it.  That's how you make money in stock.
  5. Jack is my hero. One question (please comment everyone as I'd like others' input) is that I own a Fidelity Total Market Index Fund [FSTVX] (0.045% Expense Ration- lower than Vanguard)...I am looking at 'ITOT' ETF that Fidelity is offering at no commission and it has a 0.03% Expense Ratio and from what I can see, essentially mirrors the total market fund. Am I right in that I should look to use this ETF instead of my FSTVX mutual fund. I don't 'need' the intra-day accessibility/liquidity it offers, but I'm purely investigating its lower ER. Please comment. Thank you.
  6. Very interesting
  7. Like a commenter mentioned .. He sounds way sharper than he looks. Too bad he caught the aging disease
  8. INVEST IN A NO LOAD ,LOW COST ,TAX EFFICIENT ,BROADLY DIVERSIFIED PORTFOLIO OF TRADITIONAL INDEX FUNDS WITH PROPER ASSET ALLOCATION BETWEEN STOCKS /and BONDS, 60%/40% S/B RATIO . STAY THE COURSE.

YOUR AGE = % OF BONDS.
  9. If you buy an ETF you should hold it for at least 10 years and not worry about it.
  10. What does it mean when he's talking about betting on the market at 300% leverage and criticizing it?
  11. Sounds like good advice, but a rather misleading title.
  12. His regards for "cloud computing" ETFs is spot on, as someone in the tech industry and knows (or assumes, marking my limitations) it may be no more than a niche in the market. It just goes to show that even though he claims he has no expertise in the area (regarding cloud computing), he recognizes the patterns in the market and makes a sound judgement. Definitely someone who has proven his expertise in investing for the long-term.
  13. Haha
  14. He looks like 112 but has the voice of a 40 years old!
  15. her legs though
  16. I love this guy! John Bogel is a true hero to the average American investor!
  17. how does he have such a crystal clear voice and mind at the age of 85?
heck if he should chose to sell his secret, I'm sure he could make a ton of money just out of that.
  18. i'm not buying the last sentence... he KNOWS exactly what sense it makes... MORE MONEY... that is to say if you are right in your predictions you stand to profit three times more than the actual securities or commodities of the etf would have provided you.... he can't seem to embrace the idea that different people have DIFFERENT RISK TOLERANCES.... he is imposing his particular level on everyone else... it's silly...

but it's an old dude that's dug in his ways, so i don't fault him whatsoever, i hope to function as well as he does when i'm his age
  19. I have the highest respect for Jack Bogle.
He is the guardian saint for the small investor.
Such a contrast to wall street banksters.
  20. Bogle is extremely smart. He knows the business probably better than anyone.
